stuffed animal

If you were born in the 2002s, chances are, you had stuffed animals. Barbies and GI Joes were so out of fashion, and what kind of a child tucks a hard plastic doll against them while they sleep at night? Stuffed animals were on the rise, and bunnies, dogs, and cats were at the forefront of this movement. But there were other animals that kids loved just as equally- the lion, the penguin, the polar bear, the giraffe- and these animal plushies connected with kids. Kids saw animals as friends and maybe even family (I still sleep with my stuffed animals at night) and this interaction grounded the idea that animals coexist with humans. Fast forward to today, when millions of animals are critically endangered or at risk to extinction, and the kids-now grown up as teens and young adults- have spoken up. I regularly see kids posting to inform others about horrendous animal cruelty going on in Africa or the inhumane treatment of pets by some people. Kids are speaking out to protect animals

class

I want an AP class that requires no effort at all. I want an AP class where I can walk in and use my phall hour, I want an AP class that is flexible and plans around my schedule. I want an AP class where I can have fun, talk to my friends, and be as loud as possible with no repercussions, I want an AP class where I can relax and unwind from the stress of my classes and nap if possible. I want an AP class where my friends can visit whenever they want. I want an AP class where everyone else will be jealous of my grade because I put in no effort and got 100%. I want an AP class that gives no homework, tests or quizzes because I’m just a natural at this subject, after all, I was pretty good in middle school. I want an AP class that colleges consider hard to get in A in, but of course, I have to be the only one in my class with an A. I want an AP class that I can easily get a 5 in because nothing lower than a 5 is going to be acceptable for college. I want an AP class that will give me

plain jane

While reading There Is No Unmarked Woman, I noticed that Tannen described one women as “a cross between Cleopatra and Plain Jane.” I had no idea who Plain Jane was, but after some research, I found that Plain Jane is a plain, ordinary and unremarkable woman. This is interesting because Plain Jane is usually used an insult. So if being referred to as an “unmarked women” is insulting, then all women are “marked, which is the “social norm”. This goes in hand with Tannen’s beliefs because she views “marked women” as a trapping mentality that society enforces onto women. Being “marked” seems to be synonymous with being judged, but I feel that being judged is something that exists in someone’s head. People can beat the system simply by taking the power back in their hands and doing things for themselves rather than for society. Tannen places too much power in other people’s eyes and that just hurts the individual feelings. Of course, it’s hard not to care about what other people think and
